An Objectivist on American Tribalism
Still being a listener of the Ayn Rand Institute Podcast, I again take issue with their current stance on politics.
If I Had One Wish
If I had one wish, what would I wish for? I would wish for a chip with all the world’s knowledge on it to be inserted into and understood by my brain.
The Truth About Criminals
In all likelihood, I have been inundated with messages about the good versus evil since I was born—from my Protestant upbringing to Disney movies with heroes and villains to schoolbooks with simple stories about such dichotomies. My love for literature began to take hold when our middle school classes began to focus more on understanding what a text was trying to say, uncovering the themes and meaning behind chosen words, thoughts, and ideas.
Objectivists Are on the Right
The Ayn Rand Institute was my Charlie Kirk. They were a bastion of fresh air in my suffocating college experience. I have said this multiple times, but here I am saying it again: The Marxist rhetoric emanating from American University was palpable. American University, ironically, was the most anti-American place I had ever been. I was taught that everything I knew was wrong and that the world was upside down. I went from A is A to A is B there.
Get Wokeism Out of Publishing
Now that the government has created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), I would like to reexamine other domains of public life that need some cutting too. While it may be my husband’s job to take on the American Library Association (ALA) and the United States military, I feel responsible for exposing the current publishing industry’s goals. I typed into the Manuscript Wishlist website “literary fiction” and the twenty-odd suggestions for literary agents to connect with made me awfully depressed with the descriptions of what they were seeking in an author to represent to the larger publishing companies.
Get Wokeism Out of Montessori (Part II)
In The Montessori Child, I wanted to share how Simone Davies slid in more and more propaganda over the course of her works. She began with The Montessori Toddler, which did not stray too far left field, but by her latest book, the only thing a parent could take away from it was that your child must become a solider for justice, a woke warrior, a “peaceful protestor,” and an activist for the Marxist cause.
Get Wokeism Out of Montessori (Part I)
It’s been about nine months now since I had my first baby. As many new parents before me have said, “Going from no child to one is life-changing.” And, indeed, it is.
Near-Death Experiences
I was recently recommended a book called Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife by someone who was raised Catholic. Knowing that I was an atheist with more of an analytical mind, they believed that perhaps reading about heaven from a physician may help make me more open to believing that something did indeed exist after death—some sort of afterlife. A bit curious, I told them I would read it.
“Immortal Love”
I wanted to touch on the doomsday cult case one more time to discuss the notion of “immortal love” with god and other people versus “mere” flesh and bone as the Hidden: A True Crime Podcast discusses in one of their episodes.
Doomsday Cult Case: An Atheist’s Analysis
I just completed binge-listening to Hidden: A True Crime Podcast and their coverage of the entire Lori and Chad Daybell case.
The Ethics of Living Forever Debate (Part II)
To live “healthy, wealthy, and wise,” as John Clarke and more famously Benjamin Franklin said, is to live happily on this earth.
The Ethics of Living Forever Debate (Part I)
A friend brought this interview between Tucker Carlson and Bryan Johnson to my attention, and once the two gentlemen started delving into the “ethics of living forever,” I found myself shouting at the screen, “Objectivism!” I could not help myself, and I needed an outlet to vent.
My Love Affair with Anxiety
Today’s show is going to be a very vulnerable one for me, but I am doing it purely for myself in my process of healing with the hopes that it may help other people who are struggling in similar ways.
We Are Women
I recently took Bradley Method childbirth classes to prepare for labor and part of the assigned reading was a bunch of podcasts and articles from Evidence Based Birth. This title is ironic, as several one-star reviewers pointed out, because the podcast cannot even admit what a woman is. Well, let me tell you that we are women.
Objectivists Divide Over Trump
Objectivism gave me the oxygen I needed amidst the barrage of confusion, trolley problems, anti-reality, magical, supernatural, illogical thinking washing over me from all sides of my higher education.
Religion Versus America
I felt compelled today to read this entire lecture given by Leonard Peikoff in 1986 because the message is still just as relevant, if not more so, today than back then.
